Silver Arrow – Sprung über die Emscher

The new, 412-m pedestrian and cycle bridge in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany, crosses the River Emscher as well as the important infrastructure and shipping route that is the Rhein-Herne-Kanal. The new crossing is part of a new generation of urban, highly architectural bridge structures. Technical logic and the structural forces are readable parts of the elegant silhouette, while the so called Silver Arrow generates its elegant structure through the synthesis of architectural design and engineering.
