Details
The Office for Consumer Protection (AVS) protects the health of humans and animals. The new building combines sustainable, efficient construction with high requirements for laboratory use and a future-orientated working environment for the 80 employees. The office and laboratory building has been constructed with hybrid timber-concrete technology. The building is designed as a free-standing, square pavilion with 50 m sides, connecting to the nearby recreational area.

Even within a strict regulatory framework, it is possible to create a rich spatial experience full of variations and layers. Markus Schietsch Architekt:innen from Zurich impressively demonstrate this with their new building for the Consumer Protection Office of the Canton of Aargau (AVS) in Unterentfelden, Switzerland. The free-standing, square pavilion is a two-storey hybrid wood-concrete construction with a side length of 50 metres. It provides 80 employees with a future-oriented working environment that combines the high demands of laboratory use with the goal of sustainable construction. The elegant and sophisticated use of spatial interfaces creates a harmonious interaction between nature, light and the community.
