Panel Talk: “The New Normal – What Can Architecture Do?”
Architecture as a social practice—for a generation of architects, this has long been the norm. Collectives are replacing individual authorship; existing structures become design material; and context dictates the design. Architects mediate between place, material, and community. Architectural firms are working with local governments, project developers, and citizens to determine what this means for the division of roles. Where and how are high-quality spaces created today? International experts are discussing this question.

“Interior Performance: How do products, technology, and planning all work together?”
Ventilation, lighting, acoustics, controls: What used to be considered finishing work is now infrastructure. Energy requirements are influencing products, floor plans, and design processes. Manufacturers, interior designers, and planners are working at the same intersections. International experts are presenting projects from Asia and Europe and discussing what this means for the discipline and the experience of spaces.
