The Mansion without Boundaries

While meeting the functional needs of a family of six, the designer expanded the space and solved lighting, ventilation and humidity challenges in the semi-basement. They expressed a belief in ‘broad and subtle’ aesthetics by creating a flowing, flexible residential space. Though located in northern China without water features, the overall atmosphere and air within the space flow naturally like water, presenting a borderless environment without excessive focus on a single material.
