Details

Utilising a 5-m elevation drop, this house modernises the Korean aesthetic of Chakyung (borrowed scenery). An L-shaped plan forms two contrasting courtyards: a vertical rear garden and an open front garden. Full-height windows blur indoor-outdoor boundaries, maximising southern panoramas, while a sunken garden draws light into the basement, creating a tranquil retreat. The facade blends smooth travertine with rough stone, achieving a balance that honours the natural topography.
