Separated from the main house by a creek, this guest house is hidden from the street by a berm. The butterfly roof offers a view of the surroundings while providing shade for the terraces. New landscaping mimics the natural environment. Sandstone and Sho Sugi Ban cladding link the house to its natural setting, and high-performance windows open the house to views and daylight. A ground source heat pump heats and cools the house.
