Mamanwa Community Center, Philippines

The Mamanwa Community Centre emerged from a two-year interdisciplinary teaching and research project at Kaiserslautern University. Sixty students from the Department of Architecture and Design worked alongside bamboo experts and the indigenous Mamanwa community on Mindanao to develop a bamboo community centre designed to withstand extreme wind loads. The centre strengthens education and healthcare, as well as community spirit, cultural identity, building skills, and long-term self-determination.
