Umbau Gesamtschule Gießen Ost (GGO)

Gesamtschule Gießen-Ost is being transformed into an open learning environment for around 1,500 students. The heterogeneous 1960s ensemble is being consolidated and extended into six clearly defined buildings. Open learning clusters with doorless classrooms and shared learning landscapes encourage diverse forms of learning. The existing structure is retained and is being adapted according to cradle-to-cradle principles, while a sculptural multicoloured brick facade creates a robust architectural identity.
