Details

The house is designed as a shelter in nature. It encloses the inner courtyard with wide overhanging eaves and a low-profile roof. The design is adapted to New Zealand’s climate, with rain and wind conditions. It opens to the views and nature, allowing for light and natural ventilation. Native restoration planting improves biodiversity and ecology on site, and the construction uses low-carbon timber. Exterior landscape surfaces are water-permeable and follow the natural flow paths. Wastewater is treated and dispersed on site, and rainwater is collected and reused.
