Details
Thermaframe 4 is a double-glazed curtain wall system with fiberglass frames designed for temperate climates that reduces the embodied carbon of facades. By replacing conventional aluminium framing with fiberglass and eliminating the third pane of glass required for similar performance, the system lowers material emissions while maintaining thermal performance (R4 overall). The result is improved thermal comfort, reduced condensation risk, and a lower-carbon solution for energy-efficient buildings.
The Jury‘s Statement
How much material is really necessary? Thermaframe 4 from Glascurtain offers a fresh answer to this key question in facade construction. As the industry’s first double-glazing system with a fibreglass frame, it achieves a heat transfer coefficient of R4—a figure that allows it to compete with bulkier triple-glazing systems in terms of thermal insulation performance. The reason for this is that the frame’s high-performance fibreglass composite actually does most of the insulating work itself, rather than outsourcing it to a third layer of glass, as is the case with aluminium. The result is a CO₂ footprint reduced by almost 50%, with no compromises in durability, resistance to condensation, or energy efficiency. Ideal for LEED certification and net-zero energy buildings.
