DenimX—Material Matters transforms post-consumer denim into a coherent material system spanning structural cores, architectural surfaces, and sculptural furniture. Through three interconnected innovations—SAM Panel Denim Pure, Eco HPL surfaces, and the Concord Chair—it demonstrates how waste textiles can become a high-performance, aesthetically unified material language, enabling circularity, scalability, and new spatial applications.
The Jury‘s Statement
It is precisely in interior design – where material choices have a major impact on the environmental footprint, yet circularity is still far from being the norm – that there is a need for change when it comes to material selection. Whilst there has been plenty of experimentation with jeans as a raw material, products of convincing quality suitable for interior design and ready for mass production are still rare. Denimx delivers exactly that: the Dutch company processes textile waste, such as discarded jeans, into high-quality felt products and organic laminates for interior design. From waste stream to design material: it’s a compelling contribution to the circular economy in interior design.
